1 - Some Principles of Prophecy | Allusions, Images, Symbols

The Bible is the basis for numerous Christian churches, but their different interpretations often lead to contradictions. Where do these different views come from? The challenge lies not in the Scriptures themselves, but in understanding their content. Do we need a key to interpret the Bible correctly?

Our thinking is based on information that we absorb according to our needs. What does not appeal to us is perceived, but often ignored. Understanding is a process of conscious and unconscious processing, whereby our conscious mind is influenced by the subconscious. To avoid misunderstandings, we should question our understanding. Our identity and our standard for it are anchored in the subconscious. In a state of true identity, there was no discrepancy between conscious and subconscious perception - Adam and Eve lived in perfect truth.

With false identity, however, we can no longer trust our conscious perception. Only through an unchangeable standard in the mind can we rule out false interpretations. While immutable information such as laws and structures can be clearly understood, the interpretation of biblical texts requires a conscious key to true understanding.

Jesus had great difficulty with the people of his day because they read the Scriptures from the wrong perspective (Matthew 22:29; John 5:37-40). He taught in parables (Mark 4:12; Matthew 13:13-14) to show the difference between conscious and unconscious perception. Many people read the Bible without really hearing or seeing. Especially when it comes to Bible prophecy, opinions differ. While some passages are self-explanatory, much remains unclear. Many Christians believe that the Holy Spirit gives them understanding - but how does this actually happen?

In our new series “Analogies - Images - Symbols”, we want to explore these questions. The aim is to evaluate information with the right yardstick and thus lead a life that strengthens us for all eternity.
