13 - Standing in All the Will of God | Uniting Heaven and Earth

In Christ, we are called to do God’s entire will. Not just parts of it, not through our own strength or religious effort, but out of the new life He has given us.

Originally, humanity lived in perfect unity with God and did His will quite naturally, because it was inseparably bound to Him through trust and faith. Through self-deception, this unity was lost. Humanity became spiritually dead and has since lived unconsciously bound to people rather than to God. From this false identity, humanity can never truly do God’s will. The error is so powerful that the way back is difficult. Yet grace gives us the opportunity to change our hearts again. When we give up our old life and believe that God is love and knows better than we do, then our will is reunited with His. The Holy Spirit writes God’s will into our hearts – and we regain our free will to say “no.”

Thus, we can do God’s will with all our hearts, without compromise and without half-heartedness, in love, freedom, and holiness in every area of our lives. Many of us still live in constant struggle and frustration because we try to fulfill God’s will out of our old nature or through rules. The liberating truth is this: In Christ, we are already equipped to do God’s entire will. Heaven and earth unite within us when we act out of this new life. This and more will be explored in depth in the thirteenth part of the series “Uniting Heaven and Earth.”
