4 - Unity Through Humility | Uniting Heaven and Earth

Human beings mistakenly believe that they are God and trust in human words instead of God's word. Thus, they live on the wrong fuel – egoism. However, since they are made for love, they are ultimately doomed to death. The solution is to recognize the error within themselves and reconnect with God. Since this is unconscious, it must be revealed, which usually happens through suffering: suffering shows the error, enduring suffering reveals its non-existence. As a child of God, one can endure suffering because it is no longer about oneself. Injustice is not personally against us, but against our Heavenly Father.

Paul shows the inner struggle between lie and truth (Philippians 2:1–5). Every problem arises because someone elevates themselves above others. Truth and love are about helping others. In order to understand each other correctly, we must use the same language and the same standard. The error in the heart replaces this standard with the error “I am God.” The Holy Spirit gives us the true standard and our new identity as children of God (Philippians 2:5–8). Jesus lived as one with the Father, selflessly and out of the Father's love.

God offers us His grace and salvation as well. But we can only accept it if we recognize our condition. The time in which Jesus lived shows that many rejected Him, while the weak and sinners found salvation. Those who trust in their own works are most at risk. That is why God guides circumstances in such a way that we recognize ourselves. This and more is covered in the fourth part of the series “Uniting Heaven and Earth.”
