There are two spiritual realms in which we believe: 1) in the heart (subconscious) and 2) in the conscious mind, where conscience is based on a standard. Since the heart carries the wrong identity from birth, it trusts the wrong person. Salvation consists of trusting God in the conscious mind, understanding His Word correctly, and believing.
In our consciousness, we examine what subconscious information comes up. Joshua encounters Christ in the guise of a warrior (Joshua 5:13). Jesus gives clear instructions to surround Jericho in the prescribed order, such as seven times on the seventh day. After that, the walls fall (Joshua 6:20-21). The city is conquered, but Rahab and her family are spared because she has shown faith (Joshua 6:22-25). Our world will soon face a similar situation.
To understand the radical actions taken in the case of the Flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, the Canaanites, Babylon, and Jerusalem, we need to understand the law of life: everything is one and interdependent. Physical organs are controlled by the human spirit through the brain by love and thoughts. The spirit determines the function of the whole. If an organ is irreparably damaged, it must be replaced, otherwise the whole organism will die. It is the same with our earth: God put in place a bypass through Christ so that the world could exist. The earth is to be reconnected with God through human beings.
The Bible shows what happens to those who remain in self-deception: they cannot stay alive because the system would be blocked. Partial judgments (such as the Flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, etc.) are intended to illustrate the seriousness of the situation. Ultimately, everyone is responsible for what they have done or failed to do. What this means in detail is the subject of the fifth part of the series “Lessons of Faith from Joshua.”
