Jesus Christ, the second Adam, overcomes man's self-deception, crucifies him, and creates a new life. In this way, access to the original source of love (God) becomes possible again for everyone. Man is spiritually bound by trust and faith – an automatism without tolerance. After the Fall, however, this trust is no longer directed toward God, but toward people – also an uninterrupted automatic process.
Trust occurs on two levels:
in the heart (subconscious) → determines identity
in the mind (consciousness)
Through self-deception, man had separated himself from God forever. God solved the problem by “adding” man in Christ. The old life is under the law (Adam's inheritance), the new life is grace through faith in Christ.
Salvation happens here and now as inner liberation. It requires full mental effort to see through the error. Particularly difficult: The error disguises itself as good and resists injustice – thereby producing injustice itself. That is why a “circumcision of the heart” is necessary (Philippians 3): Everything that causes us humans to trust in something other than God must be cut away. Our minds and wills fight against the deceitful heart that separates us from God unnoticed and leads us in the wrong direction.
Since we have no direct access to our subconscious, the Holy Spirit writes our new identity into our hearts. In our consciousness, we must believe in this identity and trust that God's standard will enable us to recognize error. In our new life, the following applies: No one has ever really hurt us. The past, remorse, and reproaches are over. The battle of faith is joyful – a path from victory to victory – as long as we do not look at our own works. These only reveal what remains of the old nature. Every action comes either from Christ or from the old nature. We must learn to distinguish between the two. This and more will be explored in depth in the sixth part of the series “Uniting Heaven and Earth.”
