8 - Giants of Faith: Joshua and Caleb | Lessons of Faith from Joshua

Since we have the wrong identity in our hearts from the moment of conception, we automatically trust the wrong person and have to believe their words. Every illness is the result of trusting in people. Our salvation lies in establishing a conscious standard in our minds to focus our trust on God and to understand and believe His Word correctly. We can give up the lie “I am God” and consciously trust in God.

We look at the twelve spies from Numbers 13:13-32. Ten spoke of overwhelming opponents. Joshua and Caleb, on the other hand, trusted God and wanted to enter the land. The people wanted to stone them for this, but God gave Joshua and Caleb the land.

Joshua and Caleb used their minds and their consciences. Trust and faith are so crucial. They determine everything in our lives. Whom we trust, we also believe in and share their fate. Let us trust God, believe His Word – even when giants stand before us and it seems as if we cannot overcome our problems. Then our minds tell us, “I will prevail because of the Word of God.”

We then know that everything we do together with God cannot fail. That is faith. Trust and faith are ultimately the key to life. “In Christ I can do all things, for he makes me strong...” In Him there is no failure. Those who accept God's Word act according to it and are rewarded with freedom and unity with God. We will learn more about this in the eighth part of the series “Lessons of Faith from Joshua.”
