We need a change in our inner, subconscious identity. This happens through the mind of Jesus (Philippians 2:5-8) and the struggle of faith (Philippians 2:12-13). Many Christians confuse faith with works and ask what needs to be changed in faith. But if you don't know the person and their problem, for most people the gospel is just information that doesn't help them in their lives. Let's take a look: What is salvation? Is it about getting to heaven? For most people, salvation is something in the future. But salvation is not the future, it is the present. And it lies within our hearts.
Paul's struggle of faith (1 Corinthians 9:24-27; Hebrews 12:1-4) shows that something in the person must be changed, not the external circumstances. The real struggle begins in the heart: error must be replaced by truth. And it can only be proven inactive if one allows the injustice done to oneself and does not resist or rebel against it. We do not fight against demons or external circumstances, but against our own deceived self. External circumstances are merely aids to self-knowledge.
Bliss/salvation means giving up the innate lie and replacing it with the truth – here on earth, in life. Thus, illness is also solely the result of a deceived heart. Therefore, we should not seek external purity, but recognize and fight our inner enemy (the deceitful heart). The mind and will must connect with God's mind and will so that the enemy within us is defeated. This and more is covered in the fifth part of the series “Uniting Heaven and Earth.”
