4 - The Plagues | Exodus

This episode is about the plagues and how the human heart hardens. God always acts in favor of his creatures. He actively provides each one with what they need at all times. The spirit controls itself, but through error it does not use the power given to it by God correctly. God can withdraw his power, thereby preventing him from carrying out his plans.

In the case of Pharaoh, God allows him to do what his heart tells him to do, namely to play God. In this way, God wants to help him to recognize himself. It is important to note that Pharaoh hardens his heart through his own actions. The 10 plagues (Exodus 7:5; 10:2) are intended to show man who God is, to reveal His power and dominion, and to help him find his true identity as a child of God.

It is generally very difficult to convince a Christian that he is deceiving himself and believes he is someone he is not. That is why God must intervene and appeal to reason. The question is: Is true self-knowledge possible without pain? Can we recognize our error without God showing us where it leads? In most cases, unfortunately, it is not possible without pain.

We look at the 10 plagues in Egypt. What were the plagues and how did they demonstrate God's power and authority? The last 7 plagues are still to come. They show that hardening of the heart can be final – and that everyone ultimately bears the consequences of their actions. As we continue, we will look at why God sends the plagues and what they mean for us.
